Shopping and Entertainment

Shopping
Shopping around in Nepal can be an experience in itself.  One can go from hard street bargaining for that perfect Christmas gift, to be attended like a king in big up-market stores.  Items in Nepal are usually cheaper than back at home, so be careful or you will find yourself flying back with 100Kg extra luggage and dreams of setting up an export business!

What to Buy
Nepal offers typical ethnic items such as wooden masks, Buddha statues, prayer wheels and flags, Gorkha knives, and much, much more.  You will just have to come and check out what these really are.

Fine articles, such as silver hand made jewelry, precious gems, pashmina shawls and cashmere pullovers have been available for quite some years now, and are certified for quality.

Culture Dances and Festivals
There seem to be more festivals and holidays than working days in Nepal.  From organized culture dances in Kathmandu restaurants to gods parading in the streets, every moment provides an opportunity to celebrate life.   Even while trekking in remote areas, foreigners are invited to assist weddings and special occasions giving first hand experience to their fascinating lifestyles and beliefs.  Culture in Nepal is so broad that we have developed a special Culture Section providing more details of it's variety, and dates of Nepal's many festivals.
